Venture Capital Intern
Interns provide support to the Venture Group for the evaluation of life sciences opportunities under consideration for investment. Using a variety of scientific, financial, and business skills, interns maintain new and ongoing deal logs, read and present business plans to the partnership, attend entrepreneurial pitches, assist with due diligence, and develop financial models. Interns may also be asked to perform special projects for Burrill portfolio companies and could have exposure to term sheets, negotiations and documentation of new or follow-on financings for the portfolio. Candidates are required to have at least a bachelors or greater in Biological Sciences with a strong preference for individuals pursuing or have completed a M.D. or Ph.D. degree or are currently pursuing an M.B.A. at a top university. Financial experience in the Biotech industry knowledge is an asset. Entrepreneurial skills are a plus. Strong understanding of science and the biotechnology industry with some experience in financial settings is also required.

Investment Banking Associate / Analyst
Burrill & Company is seeking an investment banking Associate / Analyst in the life sciences sector for their Merchant Banking Group. The position is located in San Francisco, CA.

Candidates must have a bachelors degree in a life science related field of study, or a business-related degree. Strong preference given to those with a mix of both fields of study. The candidate will ideally have one to two years experience in investment banking, private equity or venture capital.

Typical job responsibilities include performing research, creating and updating industry databases, creating PowerPoint presentations for pitchbooks, generating and updating investor lists and target lists for private placements and M&A deals to track progress, assisting in performing valuation analyses, and drafting executive summaries and documents for marketing our clients.

Associates will perform the above duties, in addition to financial modeling and setting up client meetings.

Must be located or willing to relocate to San Francisco. Must be willing and able to work long hours.
