Shawn Cross

Managing Director

Mr. Cross has twelve years of investment banking experience exclusively focused on the healthcare industry.  He began his career at Alex. Brown & Sons Inc. in Baltimore, Maryland and has a broad range of transactional experience including numerous public and private financings as well as strategic advisory assignments for both large and small life sciences companies in the US and Europe.  After Alex. Brown & Sons was acquired by Deutsche Bank AG in 1999, he spent the next six years in London and NYC with Deutsche Bank Securities before moving to Thomas Weisel Partners to focus on growth-oriented life sciences companies in 2005.  During his twelve year career, Mr. Cross has worked on transactions for and developed relationships with the industry’s leading life sciences companies including Auxilium Pharmaceuticals, Baxter, Bayer, Genzyme, Novartis, Sepracor, Schering AG, Shire, Sciele (now Shionogi), Tibotec-Virco, Trimeris, United Therapeutics and Vanda, among others.  Mr. Cross received an MBA with Honors from Columbia Business School and has a BS from the University of California, Los Angeles where he graduated with Dean’s List distinction.  Prior to business school, he was involved in cancer research at the University of Washington Medical School where his research on the role of p53 and solid tumor progression culminated with a first authorship in the journal Science.
