Konstantin G. Skryabin

Konstantin Skryabin is a leading figure in Russia’s biotechnology industry. He earned his Ph.D. in Molecular Biology at Lomonosov Moscow State University, where he is now Head of the Department of Biotechnology. He is Director and founder of the Russian Academy of Sciences’ Center for Bioengineering. In addition to serving in leadership roles with several international biotechnology organizations, he has consulted for many pharmaceutical and biotech companies in Russia. Together with Bioprocess Holding and other partners, he founded Bioprocess Capital Partners LLC, which managed the first Russian venture capital fund focused on life sciences.

Through his pioneering research Professor K. Skryabin established genomic sequencing in Russia, developed systems for the production of variety of biologically active compounds, and enhanced the elucidation of biosafety and ethical issues posed by genetic engineering. He has published more than 450 scientific papers and is assigned 59 patents and inventions.

Professor K. Skryabin is a full member of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Russian Academy of Agricultural Sciences. He is also a member of the Council of the President of the Russian Federation on Science, Technologies and Education and Chairman of the Russian Academy of Sciences’ Scientific Council on Biotechnology. Among his many distinctions, he has been recognized in the Order for Service to the Motherland in Russia.
