Woven gabion baskets refer to a rectangular box with double or
triple twist hexagonal steel mesh fabric made form galfan wire or
PVC wire. They are successfully applied to various rough
conditions. Such as gabion retaining wall, gabion fence and gabion
channels, etc.
Besides galvanizing, the extra PVC coating could provide stronger
corrosion resistance ability. It is further extruded with 0.5mm
thick PVC Coating. The PVC coating is UV stabilized as per ASTM A
975.
The wire used to manufacture double twisted gabion wire mesh is
soft annealed, mild steel wire provided with heavy zinc coating as
per EN 10244/ASTM A 641 to prevent corrosion.
Selvedge / Edge wire which is a thicker and heavier wire is used to
reinforce the edges and transverse diaphragm. It gives greater
rigidity and shape to the Gabion Basket.
The fabric of Galvanized Gabion Basket shall be triple-twisted
hexagonal woven steel wire mesh complying with BS 1052. All wire
used in the manufacture of the basket, diaphragm, binding, and
connecting wire shall be galvanized as specified in BS 443, EN:
10244-2 with a coating of zinc by an electrolytic galvanizing
process. The minimum weight of galvanizing shall be as given in
Table. Zinc coatings shall be uniform and at all points more than
25 mm from a cut end, the coating shall be able to withstand a
minimum number of dips and adhesion tests specified as per EN:
10244-2.
