Butt welding elbow electrodes should be kept dry when used.
Titanium calcium type should be dried at 150 °C for 1 hour, and low
hydrogen type should be dried at 200-250 °C for 1 hour (do not
repeat drying repeatedly, otherwise the skin will easily crack and
fall off) to avoid the electrode. The skin sticks to oil and other
dirt to avoid adding carbon content to the weld and affecting the
quality of the weldment. When the elbow is welded, it is repeatedly
heated to separate out carbides, reducing corrosion resistance and
mechanical properties.
The welding process of butt welding elbow needs to be controlled
according to the actual operation instructions and methods, so that
the elbow products produced can fully demonstrate its application
characteristics and functions, and determine the outstanding
dedication and quality in use. After welding, the hardenability is
large, and cracks easily occur. If the same type of electrode is
used for welding, preheating above 300°C and slow cooling at 700°C
after welding are required. If the weldment cannot be subjected to
post-weld heat treatment, a chrome-nickel stainless steel electrode
should be used.
