Overview

Stainless Steel 317L Fittings is a low carbon austenitic steel material made piping class. The fittings range from simple couplings to long radius elbows. The 317L Fittings material is made up of chromium, nickel, molybdenum and other elements in trace amounts. The addition of these elements makes the material very much corrosion resistant. They are also resistive to acidic environments. This is also a non-magnetic grade that is produced in an annealed condition. The 317L Pipe Fittings show better corrosion resistance under stressful conditions. They are anticorrosive under high chloride ion rich media such as the sea water and can be used in those media. Sea water applications like the salt water desalinization projects use this material to employ the high corrosion resistance property.

A403 317L Stainless Steel covers the standard for forged austenitic stainless steel fittings for pressure piping applications. The accessory material shall be composed of stainless steel forgings, stainless steel bars, stainless steel plates or seamless or welded stainless steel pipe products. Stainless steel forging or forming operations should be carried out by hammering, pressing, punching, extrusion, upsetting, rolling, bending, welding, machining, or a combination of two or more of these operations.

All ASTM A403 WP 317L stainless steel pipe fittings shall be heat treated. Chemical and product analyses should be performed and should conform to the chemical composition required for carbon, manganese, phosphorus, sulfur, silicon, chromium, molybdenum and titanium.
