Non-Standard CBN Turning Insert
What materials are CBN Turning Insert suitable for machining?
(1) High hardness cast iron (hardness HSD75 or more): such as high
chromium cast iron, alloy cast iron, nickel hard cast iron, and
white cast iron are all high hardness cast iron, and typical parts
are rollers, industrial pumps, etc. For the BN-K1 and BN-K10 grades
of high-hardness cast iron, the advantages of CBN tools are
significant.
(2) High-hardness steel parts (hardness HRC45-68): such as
high-manganese steel, high-speed steel, hardened steel, etc.,
typical parts include rolling mortar wall, high-speed steel roll,
hardened gear/gear shaft, bearing, ball screw , mold, etc. BN-S10,
BN-S20, BN-S200, BN-H10, BN-H21 materials for high hardness steel
have obvious advantages.
(3) Ordinary gray cast iron (HT150/200/250/300): such as engine
block/cylinder head, brake disc, brake drum, pulley, clutch
pressure plate, etc. are all gray iron castings. BN-S300 and BNK30
grades of CBN tools enable high-speed machining.
(4) Other difficult-to-machine materials: such as F51 duplex
stainless steel, iron-based powder metallurgy, Inconel 718
superalloy materials, and nickel-based, iron-based, cobalt-based
and other high-hardness surfacing/spray welding/laser
cladding/thermal spraying materials artifact. BN-S300, BN-S200,
BN-K50, BNK30 and other materials have obvious advantages in
processing applications.
Tool scheme for machining hardened steel with CBN tool
CBN is the abbreviation of Cubic Boron Nitride in English. It is
very hard, with a microhardness of HV700~9800Mpa. Its hardness is
similar to that of diamond, and its thermal conductivity is high.
It can withstand high cutting temperatures. Quenched steel has high
strength, high hardness, low plasticity, large cutting force, and
high cutting temperature. It has very high requirements on tool
chipping resistance, wear resistance and thermal conductivity.
According to the current processing technology, CBN tools are very
suitable for processing quenched steel tool.
