An elliptical head depth of dish is a quarter of the vessel’s internal diameter and by increasing the straight flange to the depth of dish will result in the inside height. Elliptical heads are an economical solution for medium pressure tanks, due to the reduced metal thickness requirement.

Features:

A516 Gr70 not only has very high strength but also has very good toughness, wear resistance, fatigue resistance, impact resistance, welding ease of processing and cold forming properties.

Elliptical heads (also known as ellipsoidal heads or elliptical dish ends) are typically made of carbon steel, stainless steel, austenitic and cold workable metals. This elliptical head shape is more economical because the height of the head is only a fraction of the diameter.

Equivalent Material

The elliptical head ( or named ellipsoidal head ) which is a head consisting of two parts: a rotating ellipsoidal sphere and a cylindrical straight section. Elliptical tank head is fabricated to have a certain shape instead of a particular dish radius or knuckle radius. The dish radius is approximately 90% of the diameter and the knuckle radius is approximately 17% of the diameter. 2:1 elliptical flanged and dished heads are ASME compliant.
