Aluminum PCB
The aluminum circuit board contains a thin layer of thermally
conductive dielectric material, which has the effect of
transferring heat.
An aluminum circuit board is also called aluminum base PCB,
flexible aluminum PCB, metal clad printed circuit board (MCPCB), an
insulated metal substrate (IMS or IMPCB), etc.
Structure of Aluminum PCB
The aluminum circuit board is composed of a unique layered
structure.
Circuit Layer
The printed circuitry is etched with a 1oz-10oz copper layer to
assemble and link the components, which can carry a higher current
compared to FR-4.
Insulation layer
The main role of the insulation layer is insulation and thermal
conductivity, it plays a central role in Aluminum PCB, which helps
to disperse heat and reduce the operating temperature of the device
to achieve increased power output, reduced volume, and extended
life.
Metal substrates
The metal substrate can be selected according to the requirements
of the thermal and mechanical conductivity of the Aluminum PCB,
aluminum is the ideal choice, but also copper, stainless steel,
iron, silicon steel, etc.
