Product Description
REAGEN™ Pirlimycin ELISA Test Kit is a competitive enzyme immunoassay for
the quantitative analysis of pirlimycin in milk. Pirlimycin is a
lincosamide antibiotic. Under the tradename Pirsue, it is used
inthe treatment of mastitis in cattle. Pirlimycin is active against
gram-positive bacteria, specifically Staphylococcus aureus and
coagulase negative species of Staphylococcus and Streptococcus. It
is bacteriostatic and acts by inhibiting bacterial protein
synthesis via binding with the 50S subunit of the ribosome.
Pirlimycin ELISA Test Kit enables international and government
regulatory agencies, food manufacturers and processors, as well as quality assurance
organizations, to detect pirlimycin in various sample types and to
satisfy customer concerns about food safety.

Procedure Overview
The method is based on a competitive colorimetric ELISA assay. The
Pirlimycin antibody has been coated in the plate wells. During the
analysis, sample and Pirlimycin -horseradish peroxidase (Pirlimycin
-HRP) conjugate are added to the wells for incubation. If the
Pirlimycin residue is present in the sample, it will compete for
the Pirlimycin antibody, thereby preventing the Pirlimycin-HRP from
binding to the antibody attached to the well. The resulting color
intensity, after addition of the HRP substrate (TMB), has an
inverse relationship with the Pirlimycin residue concentration in
the sample.
