Product Description
A membrane switch is a momentary electrical contact on/off switch
that activates or de-
activates an electric circuit. These are sometimes called single
pole, single throw, normally
open switches. Membrane switches are manufactured by screen
printing the circuit directly
onto a plastic substrate with silver or carbon conductive ink. Its
simple, versatile, durable,
and economical design make it a superior alternative to the
mechanical switch.
1. Graphic overlay: Polyester construction – offers long life and
chemical resistance
2. Optional Hardcoats: Gloss, semi-gloss or matte
Chemical and scratch resistant
Can be used to create display windows and decorative finishes
3. Custom Colors: Translucent colors for back-lighting and windows
Deadfronts to hide legends until back-lit
4. Variety of Tactile Response Options: Tactile graphic over flat
circuits
Pillow or rim embossing
Polyester or metal domes
5. Switch Circuit Layers:
a. Screened silver circuit – for switching loads up to one watt
b. Copper PCB – for switching loads greater than one watt, or when
using LEDs, displays, etc.
c. Screened silver shield applied to top of circuit for ESD
protection
6. Spacer Layer: HeatSeal – internally vented
