1. Brief Description
Sheet Glass is made using a series of rollers that draws the molten
glass vertically up out of the mixing tank (where the glass is
still a liquid), which is also called Glaverbel Glass. The glass is
rolled up vertically, and then as it is cooling, turned
horizontally, for further cooling and processing. Sheet glass has
historically been used for thinner “flat glass” products. The sheet
process has limitations regarding thickness and overall size as
well as clarity but was less expensive than the old plate glass
grinding process so it became more commonly used in situations
where a thinner, typically lower cost but lower quality glass could
be used. Residential windows, desk tops, picture frames and so
forth were typically made with sheet glass.
Physicochemical changes in each glass melting stage:
In this stage, the components of batched materials will produce a
physicochemical solid phase reaction during heating process, in
which the gaseous products will be released from the batched
materials and produce a new opacity sinter ultimately, which is
formed by silicate and SiO2.
In this stage, the sinter will be melting and the silicate and SiO2
in sinter will change to flint glass liquid with a plenty of
bubbles. However, its chemical components and character are not
even.
The glass liquid is continuously heated, and its viscosity is
reduced with plenty of gaseous sundries released, which should
eliminate the visible bubbles with the pool of liquid.
The glass liquid is kept at high temperature for a long time, and
the ripples are eliminated by the diffusion function, and the whole
is uniform. The homogenization temperature can be lower than the
clarification stage.

4. Main Equipment Description

The melting tank is key part of glass production line, the
refractory materials quality is very important.
Compared with the float glass process, the sheet glass is combined
with slotless process and horizontal stretching process, forming
the glass liquid by slotless tank and stretching rotation method.
In glass technology, annealing means to put the glass into the
annealing lehr for a certain time or reduce the temperature with a
slow speed, so as to no additional permanent stress or temporary
stress will produce. Namely, annealing also means a process which
will reduce or eliminate the thermal stress of glass.
