When the ultrasonic wave acts on a thermoplastic parts contact
surface, it will produce tens of thousands of high-frequency
vibration per second. This high-frequency vibration reaches a
certain amplitude, and the ultrasonic energy is transmitted to the
welding area through the upper welding horn/mold. Due to the large
acoustic resistance at the interface of the two welding parts, a
local high temperature will be generated.
Due to the poor thermal conductivity of the plastic, the
temperature can't timely send out for a while, it gathered in the
welding area, making two plastic contact rapidly melting, coupled
with a certain pressure, making them merging into one. When
ultrasonic stop function, and keep the pressure for a few seconds,
make them solidification molding, forming a strong chain, then
achieve the purpose of welding, the welding strength can close to
the raw material strength.

in various conditions. Aluminum, steel, titanium are the most
popular materials we use for making horns.
There are three common horn materials:
A. Titanium
high price, excellent performance good toughness and low loss,
difficult to be processed;
Its amplitude can reach 60mm.
B. Aluminum
low price, fast loss, easy to be processed;
Its highest amplitude of less than 300mm.
C. Steel
too hard to be made as horn;
its highest amplitude less than 25mm;
It is suitable for cutting but the blowpipe needs to be added in
for its cooling.
