We compared and tested the performance indicators of two latest and
most energy-efficient bitcoin mining products (bitmicro's
whatsminer m30s + and bitcontinental's ant miner S19 Pro).
Obviously, the more expensive 7Nm bit products in mainland China
are more powerful, but the output of miner is very similar. Our
data in just three days show that the performance of bitcontinental
miner is slightly higher than that of whatsminer, but whatsminer
seems to have better stability. Overall, both machines are
impressive, and we predict that the two companies will compete
equally in the next few years.
Overview
Following our June 2020 article "ASIC battle for hegemony," in this
report we explore the flagship products of two leading ASIC
manufacturing competitors. Bitmicro's whatsminer m30s + is priced
at $1580, while bitmainland's antminer S19 Pro is priced at $2407.
In this report, we have tested these two products, each miner runs
for three days, and recorded various performance indicators, such
as calculation force, power consumption, temperature, sound level,
and even the air velocity at the main outlet.
It is worth noting that whatsminer m30s + is not the latest product
of bitmicro, and now more efficient whatsminer m30s + + has been
released.
Calculation power
It is reported that the computing power of bitcontinent S19 Pro is
110 Th / s, while that of whatsminer m30s + is 100 th / s. For a
single machine, this is an incredible amount of hashing attempts,
with more than 100 trillion attempts per second to find a bitcoin
block hash. As shown in Figure 1 below, the calculation forces of
the two mining machines reached their respective target levels
during this period.
After upgrading whatsminer m30s + to the latest firmware, its
computing power is 103.8 Th / s, which is 3.8% higher than the
propaganda level. However, bitmainland's S19 Pro reaches 110.7 Th /
s, which is 0.6% higher than the propaganda level. It can also be
seen from the figure that whatsminer has more stable computing
power, and the deviation during the period is obviously smaller
than that of bitcontinental products. We think that this stability
is an important factor in favor of bit micro.
Different test environments also lead to different computing power.
In this case, the temperature is quite high, which may have
affected the results.
