A thermocouple wire is a type of electrical wire that is
specifically designed for use in thermocouples.
Thermocouples are temperature sensors that generate a voltage
signal proportional to the temperature being measured.
The thermocouple wire is made up of two different metal wires,
usually of different compositions, that are joined together at one
end to form a junction.
This junction is exposed to the temperature being measured, while
the other end of the wire is connected to a measuring instrument.
The voltage generated at the junction is then used to determine the
temperature.
Thermocouple wires are typically made from materials such as
chromel and alumel for type K thermocouples, or platinum and
rhodium for type S thermocouples.
