    1. Products Overview

    Linear motor is a transmission device that directly converts electrical energy to direct motion machinery without requiring any intermediate conversion mechanism. It can be regarded as a rotary motor opened and flattened according to the radial and exhibits planes. Linear motors are also called pushing rod motors. The most common linear motor types are flat type, U-shaped grooves type, and pipe type.


    The linear motor is often briefly described as the rotary motor is flattened, and the working principle is similar. The Rotor is made of compressing coils with epoxy materials; magnetic tracks are fixed on steel plane. The Rotor of the motor includes coil winding, Hall component circuit board, electric heating regulator (temperature sensor monitoring temperature) and electronic interface. In regular rotating motor, the movement of the rotor and the stator need bearings’ support to keep proper air gap. Similarly, the linear motor needs a linear guide to maintain the position of the movement generated by the Rotor in the magnetic field. The linear motor needs to feedback the position of the Rotor by a linear encoder, which can directly measure the position of the load to improve its position accuracy.


    Linear motor working principle:

    The part as stator in rotary motor is called primary part, and the part as rotor is called the secondary part. In actual application, the primary and secondary parts have different lengths to ensure that the coupling between primary and secondary is stable within the required movement scope. Taking the linear induction motor as an example: When the primary winding is connected to the AC power supply, it generates a waving magnetic field in the air gap. The secondary generates electromagnetic thrust and current when the waving magnetic field cuts it. Then current generates its own magnetic field and due to the interaction between these two magnetic fields, a torque will be generated. If the primary part is fixed, then the secondary part will move and, so that the rotor starts to rotate and if secondary is fixed, the primary will move.


    Compared with the rotating motor, the linear motor mainly has the following characteristics:

    First, the structure is simple. Because the linear motor does not need to convert the rotation movement into linear motion through mechanical mechanism, the structure itself is simplified, so the weight and volume are greatly decreased.

    The second is high positioning accuracy due to elimination of mechanical parts which convert the rotation into linear motion. Position is directly controlled by the magnetic waves, which is controlled by dedicated linear motor controller.

    The third is fast response speed, high sensitivity, and good randomness. The linear motor is easily supported by magnetic suspension, so it keeps a certain air gap between the movement and the stator without contact. The sensitivity, fastness and randomness. The normal speed of linear stepper motor is from 1m/s to 10m/s and can customize for speed up to 100m/s if customer needed.

    The fourth is the high reliability and long lifetime. The linear motor can achieve no contact power transmission, so the mechanical friction loss is almost zero, and the failure ratio is much less and free of maintenance.
