• Power distribution: The differential bevel gear distributes the power transmitted from the engine to the drive shaft equally to the left and right wheels. When driving in a straight line, both wheels rotate at the same speed; when turning, the inner and outer wheels are allowed to rotate at different speeds to accommodate the difference in turning radius.
• Changing transmission direction: The design of the differential bevel gears allows them to change the transmission direction. Usually, the main bevel gear (connected to the drive shaft) and the driven bevel gear (connected to the wheels) of the differential are perpendicular to each other, so that the rotational torque can be transmitted to the wheels while changing the direction of the force.
• Wear-resistant and impact-resistant: Differential bevel gears need to withstand large loads and impacts, so they are usually made of wear-resistant materials, such as alloy steel, and undergo special heat treatment to improve their durability.
