ASTM B366 is a specification established by ASTM International, formerly known as the American Society for Testing and Materials, that covers nickel-molybdenum-chromium alloys (such as Hastelloy C22) and nickel-chromium-molybdenum-tungsten alloys (such as Hastelloy C276) pipe fittings, including but not limited to elbows, tees, reducers, caps, and crosses.

Hastelloy C22 is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy with enhanced resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking. It also has excellent resistance to oxidizing aqueous media including wet chlorine and mixtures containing nitric acid or oxidizing acids with chlorine ions. This makes it suitable for use in various harsh chemical environments such as chemical processing, pollution control, pulp and paper production, waste treatment, and pharmaceutical manufacturing.

ASTM B366 C22 specifies the requirements for wrought and fabricated fittings made from Hastelloy C22 alloy. These fittings are typically used in conjunction with pipes or tubing in piping systems where corrosion resistance and reliability are crucial, such as in chemical processing plants, oil refineries, and other industries handling corrosive substances.

They are particularly useful in offshore drilling operations and sour gas applications where hydrogen sulfide (H2S) is present.

Pharmaceuticals: Pharmaceutical manufacturing processes often involve the use of highly corrosive chemicals and solvents. Hastelloy C22 fittings provide excellent corrosion resistance in such environments, ensuring product purity and process reliability.

Pulp and Paper: In pulp and paper mills, Hastelloy C22 pipe fittings are utilized in various stages of the production process, including bleaching, digestion, and chemical recovery. They resist corrosion from chlorine dioxide, chlorine gas, and other chemicals used in pulp bleaching and processing.
