Universal Joint Bearing Description
Structure Universal joint consists of spider(cross) and 4
grease-filled roller bearings. It can transmit large torque at low
friction. Spider with journal pegs and bearing cases as outer ring
were hot forged or cold formed and machined. They are later
carburized in furnace so that increased ruggedness and wear
resistance are obtained. Parts are finally ground to designed size
under severe tolerance. Oil seal as well as dust cover are also in
use to protect internal journal area from intrusion of foreign
material. Variety of grades and materials are selected to respond
to extreme conditions such as very hot / very cold temperatures.

Universal Joint Bearing Delivery
When the vehicle is running, because the direction of torque
transmission is the same, the direction of force on the cross shaft
is also the same. Over time, the unilateral wear of the cross shaft
journal is caused. As time goes by, the force side of the cross
shaft will wear more and more, and grooves will cause looseness and
noise. You can use the cross shaft to rotate 90° relative to the
original position, which can extend the use time. When assembling,
pay attention to the side with the oil nozzle facing the drive
shaft. The universal joint fork should rotate freely on the cross
shaft, and there should be no jamming, and there should be no axial
gap. Grease should be injected frequently in daily maintenance to
prevent the wear of the cross shaft journal and bearings due to
lack of grease.
