Extension rods, also known as Extension drill steel, Extension
drill rod, and Extension steel, and M/F rod ( Speedrod ), are rods
that typically have a hexagonal or round cross sections. The
hexagonal rods are heavier and more rigid; therefore they can more
efficiently transfer energy and increase flushing. Round rods are
generally lighter than hexagonal rods and are usually used for
extension drilling applications.
Features:
For Extension Rod and M/F steel process, carburization of heat
treatment is used to increase the strength and durability of
high-speed and powerful percussion drill string components. Through
this process, the entire rod surface, both internally and
externally, is hardened to strengthen the drill string component
and prolong its lifespan.
Carburization is a heat treatment process where the desired parts
are heated in a furnace above the transformation temperature of
normal steel. As the component is heated, carbon penetrates the
steel surface and forms compounds that increase overall strength
and durability.
