The 1771-KX1 Interface Module for the PROVOX Instrumentation System
by AB is an electronic device which provides an interface and a
unidirectional gateway between a data highway and the Fischer
Control’s PROVOX System. It can communicate with 1-8 programmable
controller systems connected to the data highway. The 1771-KX1 is a
stand-alone interface module which provides communication channels
between the Fischer Control’s Programmable Controller Interface
Unit (PCIU) by using the RS-232-C port connected through the 100ft
(max) 1770-CX1 RS-232-C adapter cable, and the data highway using
the 15-pin data highway cable.
The 1771-KX1 communicates with the PCIU at selectable communication
rates of 110-19,200 bits per second, and with the data highway at a
recommended rate of 56,000 bits per second. The maximum length it
can maintain for standard communication with the PCIU is 50ft
(15m), the maximum length for the data highway is 100ft (30m), and
the maximum length through the data highway trunk line is 10,000ft
(3048m). The 1771-KX1 has a power requirement of 1.2A at 5V DC and
it uses a recommended user-supplied power supply source (1771-P2)
with ratings of 3-5V DC (High) and -0.2-0.6V DC (Low). The 1771-KX1
has an ambient functional temperature range of 0-60° C (32-140°F)
at a humidity range of 5-95% without condensation, and an ambient
non-operating temperature range of -40-85° C (-40-185°F).
