There are four types of heat loss in paper machines: ① the heat dissipated by the paper; ② the heat dissipated by the drying equipment; ③ the heat dissipated by the condensate; ④ the heat dissipated by the exhaust air. The first two depend on the equipment and paper grade, and their variations are not significant. The only thing that can be improved is the heat carried away by the condensate and the exhaust air, and waste heat recovery is the utilisation of the heat from the condensate and the exhaust air. Fresh air drawn in from outside the workshop is filtered and enters the shell-and-tube steam and gas waste heat recovery unit. The fresh air passes through the shell side and the hot air discharged from the hood passes through the tube side. The sensible and latent heat is exchanged through the thermally conductive tube wall, reducing the temperature of the exhaust air, increasing the temperature of the fresh air entering the hood and reducing steam consumption.
