Good overall performance, good cutting performance after
spheroidizing annealing, high and uniform hardness after quenching
and tempering, high wear resistance and contact fatigue strength
and good thermal processing performance. Contains more alloying
elements and is cheaper. GCr15 steel is the most used and produced
high carbon chromium bearing steel, and is widely used in the
world. However, it has strong white spot sensitivity, poor welding
performance, high and uniform hardness, and good wear resistance.
Used to make small cross-section quenched and tempered parts with
larger load and large normalized parts with less stress.
Steel balls are important basic parts, especially precision

Category
1. From the perspective of application categories, steel balls can
be divided into two categories: wear-resistant steel balls in the
crushing industry and bearing steel balls in the precision bearing
industry.
2. Steel balls are divided into grinding steel balls, forged steel
balls, and cast steel balls according to the production process.
3. According to the processing material, it is divided into bearing
steel balls, stainless steel balls, carbon steel balls, copper
bearing steel balls and alloy balls.
4.According to the appearance, it can be divided into a round ball
(general narrowly defined name), capsule ball, elliptical ball, yin
and yang ball, hollow ball, multi-faceted ball, multiple missing
ball (with dimples on the surface), etc.
Note of GCr15:
1. The residual copper content (melting analysis) of the steel for
bearing steel pipes should not exceed 0.2%.
2. The oxygen content is measured on the billet or steel.
3. The sulfur content (melting analysis) of wire rod steel should
not exceed 0.02%.
Application
Steel balls are widely used in bearings, the manufacture of steel
balls, rollers and bushings on drive shafts of internal combustion
engines, electric locomotives, machine tools, tractors, steel
rolling equipment, drilling machines, railway vehicles and mining
machinery.
Production
The post-processes of steel ball production, such as automatic
steel ball cleaning, automatic appearance inspection (automatically
reject unqualified products), automatic rust prevention, counting
and packaging are all key to the quality of steel balls. Steel ball
appearance inspection is an indispensable process in the process of
steel ball processing.
The appearance inspection of steel balls mainly includes the
inspection of surface scratches, rust, and surface spots.
