Construction and demolition (C&D) materials account for almost
22 percent of the waste stream. Many of these materials can be
reused or recycled, thus prolonging our supply of natural resources
and potentially saving money in the process. Common Construction
and demolition materials include lumber, concrete, glass,
porcelain, marble, granite, metals, drywall, masonry (brick,
concrete, etc.), carpet, plastic, pipe, paper, cardboard, rocks,
dirt, or green waste related to land development. Of these, metals
are the most commonly recycled material while lumber makes up the
majority of debris that still goes to a landfill. Recycling
concrete &building rubble is not only able to bring profit to
investors, but also good for environment protection.
Site-gained concrete, bricks, tiles or other materials can be
crushed and reused as sub-base or fill. You should consider
broken-out concrete to be waste if you discard it, intend to
discard it or are required to discard it for any reason.
If you transport concrete and other materials off your site to be
crushed, make sure that you have the appropriate waste transfer
documentation.
