Introduction:

For water based systems of all types, Silica Anti Corrosive Pigment is the recommended product – with excellent anticorrosion performance in styrene acrylic and acrylic emulsions as well as in water based alkyds and epoxy systems.

The Disperants used in the water based coatings formulations must be selected be compatible with the basic nature of Pigmentan EA in order to avoid possible viscosity increase and stability problems are common with basic pigments.

A number of dispersants have been tested and found to be suitable for use, and these are detailed in the Starting formulation guide and on the website. It should be noted that this list is not exhaustive, and customers are encouraged to test their particular formulations for compatibility.

Silica Anti Corrosive Pigment has also been found to be very effective in replacing standard Zinc Phosphate in water based acrylic, epoxy, alkyd and PU systems. It can generally be used as a 1:1 replacement, and produces paints with excellent corrosion performance and storage stability.

Usage: Dispersed and directly blend with base, auxiliary materials, additives and solvents.

Rust-proof Mechanism:

Chemical anti-rust: Modified molybdate and phosphate undergo a complexation reaction with painted surface, forming insoluble passive film and inhibiting corrosion to metal base such as steels from the environment.

Main Applications:

For thin-film water based primers and other special coatings, we recommend Silica Anti Corrosive Pigment. This product has a mean particle size of less than 5 microns. This grade is useful for lower film weights, and for easier dispersion of the pigment into the paint system.

Suggested dosage:

It is suggested to use between 5%~10%.
