Types of anchor chain
According to the chain structure:
Stud Chain and Studless Chain.
When the diameter of the anchor chain equipped as required does not
exceed 17mm, it can be replaced by a studless anchor chain with the
same test load, or a steel wire or fiber rope with the same
breaking load.
According to manufacturing method:
Cast steel anchor chain, electric welded anchor chain and forged
anchor chain.
Electric welded anchor chains have been most widely used on
merchant ships.
Almost all anchor chains are manufactured by flash welding, and
cast anchor chains are rarely used.
Except that most of the anchor chain accessories are forged parts,
forged anchor chains have basically been eliminated.

Anchor end link: the first link of the anchor chain, the front end of the anchor
chain, and the anchor chain whose ES is directly connected to the
anchor shackle of the first anchor. According to national
regulations, the first section should have a swivel.
New type of connection accessory: Swivel Shackle (SW.S). One is
Type A, which is directly installed on the anchor to replace the
anchor shackle. The other is type B, which is installed at the end
of the anchor chain instead of the end shackle and connected with
the anchor shackle. After setting the swivel shackle, the anchor
end chain link may not be provided with the swivel and end shackle.
End link: the last link of the anchor chain, connected with the anchor
abandoned device. Under normal circumstances, the end link is not
equipped with a swivel ring, and the end link is connected to the
anchor abandoned device. The matching form is shown in the figure.
In order to be able to swap the ends of the anchor chain in a
planned way, the chain link configuration form basically the same
as that of the anchor end link can also be adopted, with a swivel
but no end shackle. At this time, the ring bolt of the swivel
should also face The middle link.
Intermediate link: The anchor link between the anchor end link and the end link. If
the intermediate links are connected by connecting links, all the
links are ordinary links.

knots of a geared anchor chain, and the knots of a studless anchor
chain are connected to the knots.
The enlarged link of the studless anchor chain is a studless ring
that is one gear larger than the ordinary chain link.
