After the cleaning plate cooler of the ship's plate cooler runs for a period of time, scale, grease, rust, and other scales and sludge will accumulate on the heat exchange surface.

These scales and sludge have low thermal conductivity, and they all appear as additional thermal resistance during the heat transfer process, thereby reducing the heat transfer effect of the cooler.

There is too much fouling or attachment between the heat exchange plates, and the flow resistance increases. Therefore, the plate cooler must be cleaned regularly.

At present, there are two commonly used mechanical cleaning and chemical cleaning. The plate cooler is mechanically cleaned, that is, after the cooler is completely separated from the cooling system, it is completely dismantled, manually using mechanical methods such as a shovel, brushing, and grinding to remove the scale and attachments on the heat exchange surface one by one, and then reassemble and put it into use.

It is the time-consuming and high maintenance costs. Disassembly and reassembly of the cooler can easily damage the seal between the heat exchange plates and the heat exchange plates are easy to deform.

Mechanical method descaling can easily damage the passivation layer on the surface of the heat exchange plate.
