TPU vs. PVC, what's the difference?
The full name of "TPU" is Thermoplastic polyurethanes, TPU is an alternative to PVC products. TPU is not plastic is
resin. The advantage is oil resistance, cold resistance,
anti-aging, performance is dozens of times that of PVC.
The English name TPU of thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer is a
very excellent elastomer material. Compared with PVC material,
there are mainly the following differences in terms of appearance:
1, transparent TPU will take a yellow bottom after a long time, PVC
generally has two kinds of the blue and yellow bottom.
2, TPU hardness range, from shore A 60 - shore D 85; PVC hardness
generally from shore A 30-120;
3, TPU wear resistance, low-temperature resistance, oil resistance,
chemical resistance, resiliency are better than PVC;
4, the TPU environmental safety performance is very good,
containing no plasticizer and other contraband materials
phthalates, but PVC there are the environmental problems ;
5, TPU products smell no smell, and PVC products have a strong
pungent odor.
In general, the TPU burns with an aromatic flavour, and the surface
feels better; TPU is PVC Replacement of products; TPU does not
belong to the plastic resin, the advantage is oil, cold,
anti-aging, performance is dozens of times the PVC; TPU product
life in more than 10 years, no losing elasticity in -50℃
environment.
