External Installation of UCN Taps, Continued Protect taps from

by bumping or by exposure to the elements such as water and
sunlight. Allow for routing drop cables to network devices When the
UCN taps are installed external to an enclosure containing the
network device, the drop cables must be routed into the enclosure.

redundant cable routes Separate paths for the redundant A and B
drop cables should be considered if they are in a hazardous
location where they can be damaged.
Internal Installation of UCN Taps Drop taps can be mounted in TDC
3000X enclosures There are various methods of installing UCN taps
in a network device enclosure, such as an Advanced Process Manager
cabinet or the cabinet containing a Network Interface Module (NIM).
Special tap mounting brackets are available in a kit that includes
the UCN taps. Preinstalled taps and drop cables The cabinets
containing the network device also can be ordered with the taps and
drop cables already installed. UCN taps installed on sides of
PM/APM cabinet Figure 5-3 shows the installation of the UCN taps on
the brackets attached to the center cross members at the right and
left sides of the Process Manager or the Advanced Process Manager
cabinet. UCN trunk cable A connects to the left side trunk cable
tap and trunk cable B connects to the right side trunk cable tap.
