24kv High Voltage Surge Arrester / Rj45 Metal Oxide Electrical Surge Arrester

Metal oxide arrester is an overvoltage protective device widely used in power system network. The non-linear characteristics of the arrester block can be analysed by its residual voltage waveform for a given current surge. There are still difficulties while modelling of arrester owing to their dynamic characteristics which depend on the rise time of the current surge . However, several electrical models with an acceptable level of accuracy have been brought out for simulating its frequency-dependent behaviour under current surges with the front time ( t f) of 1 µs or more . However, the available arrester models are suitable for computing residual voltages against current surges having t f ≥ 1 µs and dubious for very fast transient overvoltages (VFTO) (nanosecond surge) with very short rise time. Moreover, with the introduction of gas insulated substation (GIS) in power system, the generation of VFTO becomes more and therefore it is essential to formulate new model or renovate the existing arrester model for simulation of residual voltages against VFTO.
