No matter among buttweld pipe fittings nor forged pipe fittings, the most popular and extensive used stainless steel is grade 316 and grade 304. Both are Austenitic stainless steel with excellent corrosion resistance and high strength. However, the specification for forged fittings is ASTM A182, while for buttweld fittings is ASTM A403.

Compared their chemical composition, we konw ASTM A403 WP316 contains Mo while A403 WP304 not has. This is an element that added to help resist corrosion to chlorides, so SS316 corrosion resistant better.
