Introduction:
17AM-K Electric Motor Thermal Switch is a thermally operated
snap-action device which delivers the over heat protection with
advanced structure, high contact capacity and long cycle life. The
operating principle of the 17AM-K is both simple and effective. At
the heart of the protector is a bimetal snap-action disc. When the
temperature of this disc reaches its pre-calibrated temperature it
snaps open, resulting in an open circuit. This temperature is
reached during a fault condition, caused by either an increase in
ambient temperature, an increase in current flowing through the
discs, or a combination of both. After the 17AM-D breaks the
circuit, the system cools down and the 17AM-K automatically resets,
allowing power to be restored to the circuit.
17AM-K+PTC(PTC heater) is developed on the base of 17AM-K. The PTC
Heater is electrically located across the contacts of the
protector. When the protector contacts are open, the heater is in
series with the load. The heater then maintains the temperature
sensitive bimetal of the protector in an open state. To reset the
Self-Hold 17AM-K, power must be removed for sufficient time to
allow the Self-Hold 17AM-K to cool to below the protector’s reset
point.
