Printing companies who hold on to the conventional UV curing

The type of lamp used in printing applications is usually a medium
pressure linear mercury vapor arc lamp. Medium pressure UV lamps do
cure inks and coatings instantly, allowing the equipment to run at
very high speeds for extended periods, but they operate at very
high temperatures (850 to 950 Celsius or 1550 to 1750 Fahrenheit).
But mercury lamps aren’t always the best choice.

lamps run too cool, they may not cure the ink or coating, so
printers need to keep them on at all times, wasting a great deal of

be counted in too. These lamps generate a lot of heat and ozone as
well. Both need to be forced out of the production area away from
press operators – again costing a lot of otherwise useless energy.
