In 1938, British engineer Donald West Bailey invented the Bailey Bridge. This bridge is made of high-strength steel and is made of lightweight and standardized truss elements and beams, longitudinal beams, bridge decks, bridges and connectors. The composition can be quickly assembled into a truss girder bridge suitable for various spans and loads with special installation equipment. It is named as a fabricated highway steel bridge in China, which is one of the steel bridges, but it is not equivalent to steel. The bridge and the Bailey Bridge are more typical. The main feature is modularity, and the application is more convenient and extensive.

Advantages:

Bailey Bridge can form temporary bridges of various types and uses according to the different needs and spans of the site. Therefore, the Bailey frame has the characteristics of simple structure, convenient transportation, fast erection, easy decomposition, less construction, low cost and light weight. Moreover, the beret also has the characteristics of large carrying capacity, strong steel structure and long service life.

Stress characteristics
(1) The piers and columns are rigidly connected, and the beams are unloaded due to the bending resistance of the piers. The whole system is a compression-bending structure and also has a thrust structure.
(2) The clearance under the bridge of the steel truss bridge is larger than that of the arch bridge, and a smaller span can be constructed under the same clearance requirements.
(3) The construction of steel truss bridges is more complicated, and is generally used for overpass bridges and overpasses in cities or highways with small spans.
(4) Steel truss bridges constructed with prestressed concrete and cantilever construction have become one of the competition schemes for long-span bridges.
