1. The sealing surface of the washer and flange shall be cleaned, and there shall be no scratches, spots and other defects affecting the sealing performance of the connection.

2. the outer diameter of the sealing washer should be smaller than the flange sealing surface, the inner diameter of the sealing washer should be larger than the inner diameter of the pipe, the difference between the two inner diameter is generally 2 times the thickness of the sealing washer, to ensure that after the pressure, the inner edge of the sealing washer will not extend into the container or pipe, so as not to impede the flow of fluid in the container or pipe.

3. The pre-tightening force of the sealing washer shall not exceed the design specification, so as to avoid excessive compression and loss of resilience of the sealing washer.

4. when the sealing washer is compressed, it is best to use a torque wrench.For large bolts and high strength bolts, hydraulic tightening is preferred.Tightening torque should be calculated according to the given sealing washer pressure, and the hydraulic pressure of the tightening device should also be calculated.

5. When installing the sealing washer, tighten the nut in sequence.But should not twist a time to achieve design value.Generally, it should be circulated at least 2-3 times so that the stress distribution of sealing washer is even.

6. For pressure vessels and pipelines with inflammable and explosive media, safety tools should be used when replacing sealing washers, so as to avoid fire or explosion accidents caused by the collision between tools and flange or bolts.[2]

7. In case of pipeline leakage, the sealing washer must be replaced or adjusted after depressurization. Pressure operation is strictly prohibited
