FAQ:
1. What is 1D barcode and 2D barcode?
1D barcodes usually encode a string of numeric such as product
number, production date, type, size, etc. If you want to add text
information into the 1D barcodes, Code 39, Code 93 and Code 128
help a lot.
QR code and other 2D barcodes store large amounts of data, which
allows for more flexible usage.
2. What is laser barcode scanner?
When you pick up a scanner and look at the scan head, you can see a
"little mirror" shaking, which is a 1D laser barcode scanner. The
laser emits a laser beam, which is refracted to the swing mirror
through the mirror, and then refracted out of the scanner through
the swing mirror. The irradiated laser beam appears as a red dot on
the medium. The laser point will move extremely fast between points
A and B, and what we see with the naked eye is a slender red laser
line. When the laser beam irradiates the barcode, the reflected
light will be received by the receiver in the scanning head, and after parsing, it will be displayed in the
computer as text information.
3. How does a barcode work?
A barcode is quite simple. It is a way to encode information into
an optical machine-readable data representation. This data
representation is printed or etched onto objects for future data
capture via an optical reading device such as a barcode scanner or
mobile computer.
Strictly speaking, a barcode refers to the 1-dimensional (1D)
barcode, depicted as a combination of black and white lines
representing different numeric or alpha-numeric character sets. The
barcode represents data by varying the widths and spacings of the
parallel lines, variations in the lines create a different text
output. To decode, the barcode scanner reads the black and white
bars and translate this into text your computer can understand.
Recent technical developments have advanced the barcode with many
new encoding designs, the latest design is the 2 Dimensional (2D)
or matrix code, which is commonly referred to as a ‘barcode’
through the design has no bars! The 2D barcodes can encode much
more information as they organise information vertically and
horizontally in the design.
