Pneumatic valve diaphragm is an important part of pneumatic actuator. It is usually butterfly shaped, and its sidewall runs from the cylinder to the piston. It's designed as a double layer to take pressure in both directions. Its ability to withstand high pressures is limited due to its wide circumferential and asymptotic bias sidewall. The effective pressure will change accordingly during the stroke.

Common materials for pneumatic diaphragm are: natural rubber (NR), nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR), the performance of the two materials can meet the needs of most industrial environments. In special industrial environments (high temperature resistance, acid and alkali resistance) could use EPDM, fluorine rubber (FKM), neoprene rubber (CR) for production, but the cost is relatively high.

The pneumatic diaphragm control valve is a circular diaphragm-shaped elastic sensitive element. When the two sides of the diaphragm are subjected to different pressures (or forces), the diaphragm strain moves toward the side with the lower pressure. Its center produces a displacement that has a certain relationship with the pressure difference.
