    MVI56E-MCM is a Modbus master/slave enhanced network interface module made for ControlLogix devices. The MVI56E-MCM enables a master and/or slave connectivity between a ControlLogix processor to Modbus RTU/ASCII devices. The module has a backward compatibility feature which allows it to be compatible with older MVI56 modules. This allows the modules to be directly replaced without changing the existing controller program. The MVI56E-MCM has a 10,000-word database which allows more data to be gathered from other devices and which improves operational performance. This feature of the MVI56E-MCM module also allows the users to take full advantage of enhanced features and flexibility without incurring expensive reprogramming costs. The MVI56E-MCM module makes Modbus data appear as I/O data to the processor by acting as input/output modules on the ControlLogix backplane. It also features crossover detection.


    The current backplane load of the MVI56E-MCM is 800 mA at 5 Volts DC and 3 mA at 24 Volts DC. The MVI56E-MCM has an operating temperature range of 0 to 60 degrees Celsius or 32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit and a storage temperature range of -40 to 85 degrees Celsius or -40 to 180 degrees Fahrenheit. The MVI56E-MCM can resist up to 30G of operating shock, 50G of non-operating shock, and vibrations of 5G from 10 to 150 Hertz. The recommended relative humidity range for the module is 5 to 95% (without condensing). The module can also withstand harsh or caustic conditions because of the conformal coating applied to it. The MVI56E-MCM module has a 10/100 MB Ethernet port that allows for network configuration and diagnostics with an Auto Cable. It also supports RIUP (Remove and Insert Under Power). The 4-character, scrolling and alphanumeric LCD of the module show the status and the diagnostic data in English. The MVI56E-MCM can operate on both a Local or a Remote rack.
