Titanium Wet Chlorine Cooler for Chlor-Alkali
Titanium tubular chlorine cooler adopts a vertical, floating head,
steel shell rubber-lined head, and the pattern plate and pipe are
pure industrial titanium. The diameter is 800 mm, 367 titanium
tubes (26*1.5*4000mm), and the total heat transfer area is about
110 square meters. Wet chlorine gas goes into the tube, and cooling
water goes out of the tube. The detailed structure is shown in Fig.

Application:
The application of titanium wet chlorine cooler and salt
electrolysis to produce Chlor-alkali will generate a large amount
of high-temperature wet chlorine gas, the temperature is generally
75-95 ℃, and it needs to be cooled and dried before it can be used.
The production of chlorine gas produced by electrolysis of salt has
previously affected the production and quality of chlorine gas due
to unreasonable cooling processes or corrosion of cooling
equipment, and also seriously polluted the environment. Titanium
coolers resistant to high temperature and wet chlorine corrosion
were put into production, which changed the production outlook of
chlorine production in the Chlor-alkali industry. Titanium is
extremely corrosion-resistant in the environment of high
temperature and humid chlorine gas. The corrosion rate of titanium
in chlorinated water at room temperature is only 0.000565mm/a; in
chlorinated water at 80 °C, the corrosion rate of titanium is
0.00431mm/a; In % wet chlorine gas, the corrosion rate of titanium
at room temperature is 0.00096mm/a. After many Chlor-alkali plants
have used titanium wet chlorine gas coolers, some have been used
for nearly 20 years, and they are still intact.

Because titanium has excellent corrosion resistance in wet chlorine
gas, chloride, and chlorine-containing solutions, pitting corrosion
and stress corrosion will not occur, which is unmatched by ordinary
stainless steel. It is the reason why it is widely used as a
corrosion-resistant material for equipment in many industrial
sectors in contact with chemicals, and it solves the common
corrosion problem that has existed in Chlor-alkali plants for many
years. Therefore, the Chlor-alkali industry is one of the
departments with the most applications for titanium equipment. The
main titanium equipment includes wet chlorine coolers, metal anodes
of electrolytic cells, heating pipes for dechlorination towers,
pumps and valves for vacuum dechlorination of chlorine-containing
brackish water, etc.
