ASTM A213 TP347H Stainless Steel Seamless Tube High Temperature Application

Alloy 347 (UNS S34700) is an austenitic stainless steel plate that is stabilized with columbium. It offers good general corrosion resistance and slightly better resistance in strongly oxidizing conditions compared to 321 (UNS S32100). This alloy exhibits excellent resistance to intergranular corrosion after being exposed to temperatures within the range of 800 – 1500°F (427 – 816°C), where chromium carbide precipitation occurs. Additionally, it demonstrates good oxidation resistance, creep strength at 1500°F (816°C), and low-temperature toughness.

Alloy 347H (UNS S3409) is a high-carbon version (0.04 – 0.10) of the alloy designed to provide increased creep resistance and strength at temperatures exceeding 1000°F (537°C). In many cases, the carbon content of the plate can be double certified.

It is important to note that alloy 347 stainless steel plate cannot be hardened through heat treatment; only cold working can increase its hardness. However, it can be easily welded and machined using standard shop fabrication practices.
