Nylon Taffeta Fabric Description:
One of the most popular nylon fabrics, ripstop nylon is durable,
lightweight, and incredibly strong. It’s used for parachutes, hot
air balloons, and sleeping bags. As well as rainwear and outdoor
covers.
Ripstop nylon is a blended material and usually contains either
nylon 6 or 6,6. Sometimes, both for added strength. It’s not only
the fiber making this fabric super strong. The strength of ripstop
lies in the weave. This textile has a criss-cross grid effect
created by crossing different fibers over and under each other.
It’s a bit like a basket-weave.
