Thickness-shear mode pressure sensor employ an AT-cut biconvex thickness shear mode resonator as a sensing element. The resonator is positioned symmetrically between two AT-cut cylinders or endcaps. BonTek provides AT cut quartz endcaps.

Multiple degrees of freedom exist that allow a decreased AF and an associated increase in the pressure range.
(i) thickness of the resonator (h),
(ii) thickness of the top wall of the end cap (t),
