The grid structure is a space structure composed of multiple rods connected by nodes in a certain grid form. It has the advantages of small space force, light weight, high rigidity and good seismic performance; it can be used as the roof of buildings such as gymnasiums, theaters, exhibition halls, waiting halls, stadium stand awnings, hangars, and two-way large column spacing workshops.

There are many types of grid structures, which can be classified according to different standards:
1. According to the structure of the grid itself, it can be divided into: single-layer grid structure, double-layer grid structure; and three-layer grid structure. Among them, the single-layer grid frame and the three-layer grid frame are respectively suitable for the cases with small span (not more than 30m) and very large span (more than 100m), and are rarely used in domestic engineering.

The grid structure is a space rod structure, and the stressed rods are connected according to certain rules through nodes. The nodes are generally designed to be hinged, the rods are mainly subjected to axial force, and the cross-sectional size of the rods is relatively small. The rods that meet in these spaces support each other, and organically combine the force-bearing rods with the support system, so the material is economical. Due to the regular structure combination, a large number of rods and nodes have the same shape and size, which is convenient for factory production and easy to install on site.
The grid structure is generally a high-order statically indeterminate structure, which can better withstand concentrated loads, dynamic loads and asymmetric loads, and has good seismic performance. The grid structure can adapt to the requirements of public buildings and factories with different spans and different supporting conditions, as well as different building planes and their combinations.
