1. The tungsten content of the tungsten-heavy alloy is between 90% and 98%, which is responsible for its high density (16.5 to 19.00g/cc).Nickel, iron, and / or copper are used as a metal adhesive substrate to hold the fragile tungsten particles together, making the tungsten alloy malleable and easy to process.Iron nickel is the most commonly used additive, with a ratio of 7Ni: 3Fe or 8Ni: 2Fe (weight ratio).
2. Commonused processes for the tungsten heavy alloy preparation include mixing required amounts of tungsten, iron, nickel or copper powder followed by cold pressure and liquid phase sintering to almost full density.During the liquid phase treatment, the matrix tungsten alloy is melted and some tungsten is brought into the solution to form a microstructure through which large tungsten particles (20-60 m) are dispersed in the matrix alloy.
