Low Iron Laminated Glass is made by permanently bonding two lites of 10mm low iron tempered glass together with a polymeric interlayer sheet using a process that involves exposure to cycles of heat and pressure within a specialized autoclave chamber. Laminated glass is effective at reducing the probability of injury. Similar to what you see in a windshield when laminated glass sustains an impact, the adhesion of ruptured glass to the interlayer material prevents the glass from shattering and becoming potentially-lethal projectiles, and it often results in the glass being safely retained within a framing or channel system.
