What is Geogrid?
Geogrid is a kind of main geosynthetics. Compared with other
geosynthetics, it has unique performance and efficacy. Geogrid is
often used as reinforcement of reinforced soil structure or
composite material. Geogrids are divided into four categories:
Plastic geogrids, steel plastic geogrids, glass fiber geogrids and
glass fiber polyester geogrids.

In the manufacturing of plastic geogrid, the polymer will rearrange
and orient with the heating extension process, which strengthens
the bonding force between molecular chains and achieves the purpose
of improving its strength. Its elongation is only 10% ~ 15% of that
of the original plate. If carbon black and other anti-aging
materials are added to geogrids, they will have better durability
such as acid, alkali resistance, corrosion resistance and aging
resistance.

Applications:
Biaxial tensile plastic geogrid is applicable to the reinforcement
of various dikes and subgrade, slope protection, tunnel wall
reinforcement, permanent bearing foundation reinforcement of large
airports, parking lots, docks and freight yards, etc. a.
Bidirectional geogrid is used to increase the bearing capacity of
subgrade and prolong the service life of subgrade. b. Bidirectional
geogrid is used to prevent road (ground) surface collapse or crack,
and keep the ground beautiful and tidy. c. The biaxial geogrid is
used for convenient construction, saving time and labor, shortening
the construction period and reducing the maintenance cost. d.
Bidirectional geogrids are used to prevent cracks in culverts. e.
Bidirectional geogrid is used to strengthen soil slope and prevent
water and soil loss. f. Bidirectional geogrid is used to reduce the
thickness of cushion and save cost. g. Bidirectional geogrid is
used to support the stability of grass planting mesh pad on the
slope and greening environment.
Construction method
Construction method of biaxial geogrid: when the biaxial geogrid is
used for Subgrade and pavement, the subgrade bed shall be
excavated, the sand cushion shall be set (the height difference
shall not be greater than 10cm), the platform shall be rolled into
a platform, and the grid shall be laid. The longitudinal axis shall
be consistent with the main stress direction, with a longitudinal
lap of 15-20cm and a transverse lap of 10cm. The lap joint shall be
bound with plastic tape, and the laid grid shall be fixed on the
ground with U-nails every 1.5-2m, The geogrid laid shall be
backfilled with soil materials in time, and the number of layers of
geogrid laid depends on the technical requirements.
