Brake pad maintenance
The braking effect of the vehicle is ultimately determined by the
brake pads. Generally speaking, the normal service life of the
brake pad is about 30000 km, but if it is used frequently in real
life, it is also possible to change it once every 10000 km.
It is recommended that you check the brake pads every 5000 km. You
should not only check the remaining thickness, but also check the
wear status to see whether the wear degree on both sides is the
same and whether they can return freely. If abnormal conditions are
found, they should be handled immediately.
When the brake pad is worn to only about 5mm, the brake pad needs
to be replaced, otherwise it will cause damage to the brake disc.
When replacing brake pads, pay attention to the following points:
① It's best to replace the brake pads of the original car, because
they have been used, the quality is guaranteed, and they are more
compatible with the car's brake system, so the braking effect can
be better played.
② After replacing the brake pad, be sure to step on several brakes
to eliminate the gap between the shoe and the brake disc, so as not
to cause the first foot not to brake and cause accidents.
③ The new brake pads need to be run in for 200km to achieve the
best braking effect. Be careful during this period of time.
Brake disc maintenance
According to the 4S store, every time the brake pads are replaced
twice, the brake discs of this wheel have to be replaced together.
We can use this as a reference. We can judge whether to replace it
by ourselves.
The surface of normal brake disc is smooth. If the brake pad is
excessively worn but not replaced in time, it will damage the brake
disc and make abnormal braking noise. Generally speaking, if there
are scratches, it is not necessary to replace them, but if the
abnormal braking noise still cannot be eliminated after replacing a
new brake pad, it is recommended to replace the brake disc.
In addition, there are three small pits on the surface of most
brake discs, and the pit depth is generally about 1.5mm. If the
pits on both sides are worn flat on the surface, the brake disc is
thinner than 3mm. At this time, the braking stroke will become
larger and the braking force will become weaker. It is best to
replace the brake disc to eliminate the hidden danger of driving
safety.
In addition, oil stains, dirt and friction dust on the brake disc
shall be cleaned frequently to ensure normal braking and heat
dissipation of the brake disc and reduce braking noise.
