A curtain wall is a non-structural building envelope that is intended to support only its own weight and withstand the effects of environmental forces such as wind. It is not intended to support the weight of a roof or floor. Instead, gravity loads and wind resistance transfer from the surface to the building’s floor line. Since it is non-structural, it can be made of lightweight materials - glass and aluminum profiles to help reduce construction costs. Acoustic Glass

Acoustic Glass otherwise known as Noice Reduction Glass, consists of two or more sheets of glass which are secured together with one or more acoustic interlayers inside. Glass controls noise by reflecting the noise back towards the source and absorbing the noise energy within the glass, dramatically reducing the noise level inside a property and making you more focused on work and more relaxed in your home.

How it works: The membrane interlayer inside reduces noise by absorbing the sound energy and it prevents the sound vibrations from travelling through the glass. PVB is an acoustic membrane which bonds two panes of glass together and it gives the appearance of a single pane of glass. There are three main areas that need to be addressed in order to provide the best noise reduction values in a glass pane: glass thickness, interlayers and the spacing between the glass.We can improve the sound insulation of glass by - increasing the thickness of the pane, using laminated glass on its own or within an Insulating Glass Unit (the larger the gap between the panes, the better the insulation).

Applications: Acoustic glass can really make a difference for buildings next to busy roads, railways, airport, pubs, factories that suffer from noise pollution, and for medical facilities, hospitality spaces and an office that needs complete quiet or a recording room that needs zero outside noise.
