What is PVD?

PVD stands for Physical Vapor Deposition. It is a kind of thin-film coating technique and a process in which a solid material is vaporized in a vacuum environment and deposited onto the surface of substrates.

PVD process can transfer the coating material as a single atom or compounds to the substrate surface to form a thin metal or metal-ceramic surface layer, so it can provide extremely pure, bonded and high performance coatings that greatly improves the appearance, durability, and function of a part or product.

Why PVD?

Of all coating processes, Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) is the most environmentally friendly. The PVD process does not create any of the hazardous waste associated with other types of coating such as electroplating or painting. The potential for release of a toxic material to the environment from PVD is very low, especially compared to electroplating. Because of this, PVD does not require any environmental licenses and it conforms to all environmental legislation.
