Sapphire glass (SAPPHIRE CRYSTAL) generally refers to synthetic
sapphire, which is very different from the jewelry that people
usually understand-natural sapphire, and is generally used for the
manufacture of watch mirrors.
It is anti-wear materials with tungsten-titanium alloy and
high-tech ceramics. Although these materials are resistant to
abrasion, they cannot withstand strong impacts. At the same time,
some materials with the same or higher hardness (such as:
grindstone, sandpaper, nail file, granite surface, concrete wall
and floor, etc.) may be affected. Scratch the surface of these
materials.
Sapphire is a general term for corundum gemstones of other colors
besides red rubies. The main component is alumina (Al2O3). Sapphire
glass refers to synthetic sapphire. Gem-grade sapphire can be
produced easily and cheaply in the laboratory. Its chemical
composition and physical properties are the same as natural
sapphire.
After being polished, in order to ensure a tight fit with the watch
case, the semi-finished product needs to be further chemically
polished.
Immediately afterwards, these sapphire crystals will go to the
furnace of the dust-free laboratory, where they will be anti-glare
treated by a precision vacuum evaporation process.
The sapphire crystal after anti-glare treatment can reduce 99% of
the reflected light entering the naked eye, and the looming blue
film plays this role.
If it is a regular brand watch, the sapphire glass is usually
printed on the back cover of the watch, which is expressed in
English SAPPHIRE or Sapphire Crystal. Even if it is a fake watch or
a counterfeit watch, the use of sapphire watch glass is common. To
test the hardness of the watch glass, you can use a sharp metal
object similar to a needle to scratch the most unobtrusive part of
the edge of the watch glass. It feels very hard, and it feels like
a metal object drifts by. The glass is not scratched. It should be
sapphire glass.
